For the trade

The AV partner who makes you look good.

We work with Orange County's interior designers, custom builders, architects, and electricians as a subcontractor and a technical resource — on your schedule, to your drawings, and never around you to your client.

Why partner with us

One accountable team, from drawings to year four.

Too often a project passes from sales to a coordinator to a service desk, and nobody owns the whole thing. We keep one accountable lead on your project: the team that reviews your drawings is the team that commissions the system and the team that picks up the phone in year four. For a designer or a builder, that's the difference between a partner and a vendor.

We also know where we sit. On a designer's project, the room is yours and the technology serves it. On a builder's project, we're a sub and we behave like one — on your schedule, in your trailer meetings, off your critical path. We don't need to own the client relationship to do good work.

And we'll be useful before there's a job in it. Send us a set of plans and we'll mark up the low-voltage implications for free. That costs us an afternoon and it's the single best way we know to start a working relationship.

What we bring to your project

  • Free drawing review and low-voltage markup
  • 3D room modeling before anything is ordered
  • Defensible budget allowances for early pricing
  • Documented referral fees, paid promptly
  • Lunch-and-learns with a live demo kit
  • Ongoing service so it stays working after handover

However you work

What we do for each trade

The job looks different depending on who's asking. Find yours.

Interior designers

Technology that doesn't fight your room.

Flush and invisible speakers, art-panel and hidden displays, shades that match your fabric spec, keypads in finishes that belong on the wall. We work to your palette and your millwork drawings, and we never contradict you in front of your client.

  • Speaker and keypad locations coordinated against your elevations
  • Finish and fabric matching on keypads, shades, and grilles
  • We present options to you first, never around you

Custom builders & GCs

We hit rough-in, every time.

The single expensive mistake in this trade is missing the pre-wire window. We work off your schedule, show up when low-voltage is called for, and leave a documented, labeled, tested infrastructure behind — whether or not the homeowner has bought the full system yet.

  • Low-voltage plans issued before rough-in, not during
  • Labeled, tested, and photographed before drywall closes
  • Good / better / best packages you can price into a spec home

Architects

Get it right on the drawing.

The cheapest time to solve a technology problem is before the plan is stamped. We'll review drawings at no charge and flag the things that get expensive later — equipment room location and ventilation, conduit paths, ceiling structure for projection, sightlines in an open plan.

  • No-charge drawing review and low-voltage annotation
  • Equipment room sizing, power, and cooling requirements
  • CEU-style lunch-and-learns for your studio

Licensed electricians

The lighting control work you're turning down.

You get asked about Lutron and Ketra constantly and most of it isn't work you want to take on. Hand it over. We do the control design, programming, and commissioning; you keep the line-voltage scope and the client relationship, and we pay a documented referral fee.

  • You keep line voltage, we take control and programming
  • Documented referral fee, paid on invoice not on completion
  • We never quote around you on the rest of the job

Luxury realtors

The orphaned system in your listing.

Half the high-end resales in Orange County come with a smart home nobody supports, and it becomes your problem at inspection. We'll assess a system before listing so you know what you're representing, and take it over for the buyer after close.

  • Pre-listing system assessment, written and fast
  • Buyer handover and takeover after close
  • Straight answers on what a system is actually worth

Pool & outdoor living

Audio and video that survives outside.

Every outdoor living project has an audio and television scope attached to it, and most of it gets done badly with indoor-rated equipment. We handle the outdoor AV, weather-rated infrastructure, and the control integration back to the main house.

  • Outdoor-rated audio, displays, and WiFi coverage
  • Coastal corrosion-resistant specification
  • Coordinated with your trenching and conduit schedule
The working relationship

How a trade project actually runs

1

You send plans or call

We review drawings and mark up the low-voltage implications at no charge, whether or not it turns into a job.

2

We give you an allowance

A defensible budget figure you can carry before the client has chosen anything, built from published industry guidelines.

3

We design to your drawings

Locations coordinated against your elevations and finishes. You see it before the client does.

4

We install and stay

On your schedule, off your critical path — and we support the system afterwards so it never becomes your callback.

Referral arrangement

We pay for referrals, and we say so.

Typically 5–10% of project value, or a flat fee on smaller scopes, agreed in writing before you send anyone and paid when the client pays us — not months later at project completion.

Plenty of integrators pay referral fees quietly and make the partner raise it first. We'd rather put the number on a public page. If you send us good work, you should be paid for it promptly and without having to chase.

Questions

Working with us, answered

The things trade partners actually want to know before they put their own client relationship on the line.

Do you pay referral fees?

Yes, and we'll put it in writing before you send anyone. It's typically 5–10% of project value, or a flat fee for smaller jobs, and we pay when the client pays us rather than making you wait for project completion. We'd rather state that publicly than make you ask for it.

Will you go around me to my client?

No. On designer and architect projects we present to you, and you present to your client if that's how you work. On builder projects we're a subcontractor and behave like one. We've built this business on repeat trade relationships, and one end-run would end that permanently.

How early do you need to be involved?

For new construction or a significant remodel, ideally at the schematic stage — before ceilings, equipment room location, and conduit paths are fixed. Realistically we can still do good work if we're brought in before rough-in. After drywall, everything gets more expensive and more compromised, and we'll tell you honestly what's still achievable.

Can you work to a fixed allowance?

Yes. If you need a number to carry in a budget before the client has made any decisions, tell us the home's size and level and we'll give you a defensible allowance figure. The Home Technology Association guideline — 4–8% of home value, lower end in markets like ours — is what we build those from, and it holds up in front of a client.

Do you do lunch-and-learns?

Regularly, and we'll bring the demo kit rather than a slide deck — a Ketra fixture, a motorized shade, and a live control system on the table. The most useful sessions we run are on low-voltage rough-in for architects and on hiding technology for design studios. Get in touch and we'll schedule one.

What size projects do you take?

Most of our trade work runs from around $25,000 to well over $200,000. We'll also take small scopes for an established partner — if you need one room sorted for a client, that's not a problem. What we don't do is one-off television mounts for people we've never worked with.

Let's design something worth living with.

Free consultation, no obligation, and a written proposal you can actually compare. We'll walk your space and tell you honestly what's worth doing.
