Ongoing support

The install is the start, not the finish.

Every connected system drifts. Firmware updates land, internet providers swap equipment, devices quietly fall offline. A supported system gets that handled before it interrupts your evening — an unsupported one becomes the thing nobody can fix.

Why this matters

Most systems don't fail. They get abandoned.

The most common service call we get in Orange County isn't a broken piece of equipment. It's a house where the system worked beautifully for two years, then something changed — a router swap, a firmware push, an expired account — and the company that installed it stopped answering the phone.

That's what a service plan actually prevents. Not catastrophic failure, but the slow drift that turns a system you loved into a system you work around. The industry data on this is unusually clear: a monitored system needs a person to intervene roughly once every four months, and about 95% of the time that intervention happens remotely, before the homeowner has noticed anything.

We'd rather find out your processor dropped offline at 6am on a Tuesday and have it back before you're awake, than hear about it from you on a Friday night with guests in the house.

Questions

Service plans, answered

Including the part most companies leave out — what a plan doesn't cover.

Do I need a service plan?

Not to work with us — we service non-members too, at our standard rate and after members are scheduled. But a monitored system genuinely breaks less. Around 95% of issues on a monitored system get resolved remotely, usually before the homeowner notices, and that is the entire argument for a plan. If your system is simple and you're comfortable calling when something goes wrong, Essential is enough.

What if I already have a system someone else installed?

You can still take a plan. We start with a system audit so we know what we're supporting, fix anything that's already broken, and then bring it under monitoring. Taking over an inherited system is one of the most common things we do.

Can I change or cancel my plan?

Plans are month to month after the first year, and you can move up or down a tier at any time. There's no long-term contract and no cancellation penalty. Industry agreements average around nine years, which we'd rather earn than lock in.

What isn't covered?

Plans cover support, monitoring, maintenance, and programming — not new hardware or new installation work. If a device fails outside its manufacturer warranty, the replacement part is billed separately; the labor to install it is covered on the upper tiers. Damage from surges, water, or renovation work by other trades is also excluded, and we'll always tell you before any billable work starts.

How does remote monitoring actually work?

A small monitoring agent sits on your network and reports device health back to us — whether things are online, whether firmware is current, whether the network is performing. It reports system telemetry only. It does not give us access to your cameras, microphones, or personal data, and you can have it removed at any time.

Is the response time guaranteed?

On Estate, yes — two hours, in writing, any time of day. On the other tiers the response times listed are what we commit to and consistently hit, but they're targets rather than a contractual guarantee. We'd rather state that plainly than put a guarantee in writing on a tier that isn't priced for one.

What clients say

“I had the pleasure of working with Ashkan on multiple AV installations in the past 10+ years. His team performed a complete update of the media room which includes a multi-screen projection home theater, music server, whole house audio, dedicated 2Ch HiFi system, as well as Crestron automation for AV, lighting & shades. The most recent project is a second HT AV system for the family room/kitchen remodel. It's a complex installation & we're very happy with the job. Ashkan is always professional, responsive & reliable with excellent after sales/installation supports. Highly recommended.”
