Home Theater Design & Installation in Orange County
A private cinema engineered end to end — acoustics, sightlines, seating, calibrated projection, and one-button control. Modeled in 3D before we touch your house.
A great theater is not a big television with speakers around it. It's a room designed as an instrument: reflections controlled, seating placed on the right sightlines and the right acoustic rows, subwoofers positioned where the room's modes actually let them work, and every seat calibrated to hear the same mix the engineer heard.
That's why we design the room before we specify a single component. We build a 3D model so you can see exactly what your theater will look like — riser heights, screen size, acoustic panel layout, lighting, and seating — and sign off on it before demolition starts.
Then we engineer, install, calibrate, and program the whole thing. You press one button that says "Watch a Movie." The lights fade, the shades drop, the projector fires, the screen lowers, and the room disappears.

What a properly engineered system gets you
3D modeled before we build
See the finished room — sightlines, screen size, riser, materials — and approve it before any construction begins. No surprises at reveal.
Acoustics engineered, not decorated
First-reflection treatment, bass trapping, and isolation from the rest of the house. The single biggest factor in how a theater sounds, and the one most installers skip.
4K laser projection and reference audio
Projector, screen gain, and throw distance specified together for your exact room dimensions and ambient light.
Calibrated to measurement
Video calibrated to reference standards, audio measured and time-aligned per seat. You get the picture and mix the director signed off on.
One-button operation
Lighting, shades, projection, sources, and volume on a single scene. No stack of remotes, no source-switching lessons for guests.
Media rooms too
Not every home has space for a dedicated cinema. We do open-plan media rooms that still get real acoustic attention and honest calibration.
From first walkthrough to a system you actually use
High-ticket work goes wrong when nobody explains what happens next. Here is exactly how a project runs, start to finish.
- 01
Consultation
We walk the property with you, listen to how you actually live in it, and look at what's already there. No pitch — we're establishing scope, constraints, and what's realistic.
- 02
Design & proposal
You get a designed system with a written proposal: what goes where, what it does, what it costs. Theaters include a 3D model so you see the finished room before anything is built.
- 03
Installation
We coordinate with your builder, electrician, and designer, and we work clean. Cable is run properly, racks are built to be serviced, and the site is left tidy every day.
- 04
Programming & calibration
Scenes are built around your routine and tuned on site, after dark where it matters. Video is calibrated, audio is measured. This is the step that separates a system from a pile of equipment.
- 05
Training & support
We sit down with the household and make sure everyone can drive it — not just whoever ordered it. Then we stay reachable, with remote monitoring on supported systems.
Home Theater, answered
Straight answers to what people actually ask before starting a project like this.
How much space do I need for a dedicated theater?
Around 15 by 20 feet gives you room for two comfortable rows on a riser with proper acoustic treatment and correct sightlines. Smaller rooms absolutely work — we've built excellent single-row theaters — but the design has to be tighter, and we'll tell you upfront what a given room can and can't deliver.
Projector or a large flat panel?
It depends on light control and viewing distance. In a room you can darken, a 4K laser projector on a 120-inch-plus screen is a genuinely cinematic experience nothing else matches. In a bright open media room, a large direct-view panel usually looks better than a washed-out projected image. We measure ambient light before recommending either.
Can you build a theater into an existing room?
Yes, and most of ours are conversions — a bonus room, a basement, an underused formal living room. Retrofit work means we're planning wire paths, soffits, and HVAC around what's already there, which is exactly what the 3D model is for.
How long does a home theater take to build?
A dedicated theater with construction, treatment, and calibration typically runs several weeks from demolition to handover, depending on the trades involved. A media room with existing structure is considerably faster. You get a schedule with your proposal.
Do you handle the construction, or just the equipment?
We design, engineer, install, and facilitate every part of the process, and we coordinate directly with your contractor and designer on the trades we don't self-perform. You are not left project-managing four vendors who blame each other.
What clients say
“I had the pleasure of working with Ashkan on multiple AV installations in the past 10+ years. His team performed a complete update of the media room which includes a multi-screen projection home theater, music server, whole house audio, dedicated 2Ch HiFi system, as well as Crestron automation for AV, lighting & shades. The most recent project is a second HT AV system for the family room/kitchen remodel. It's a complex installation & we're very happy with the job. Ashkan is always professional, responsive & reliable with excellent after sales/installation supports. Highly recommended.”David NgOrange County · Home theater & whole-house audioVerified Google review

Media Room Design
A dedicated theater gets used on Saturdays. A media room gets used five nights a week — and it's a harder room to engineer, because it has to work with the lights on, with twelve people in it, and with sun coming through the windows.

Centralized lighting that replaces walls of switches with a single elegant keypad — scenes designed room by room, so every space is lit the way it was meant to be.
