Lighting control

Smart Lighting Control in Orange County

Centralized lighting that replaces walls of switches with a single elegant keypad — scenes designed room by room, so every space is lit the way it was meant to be.

Lighting is the one system every person in the house touches every single day, and it's the one most homes get wrong. Six-gang switch plates next to the front door. No way to turn everything off at once. Recessed cans running at full brightness because there's no dimmer. A beautiful room, lit badly.

Centralized lighting control fixes that at the source. Instead of a switch per fixture, you get a small keypad with a handful of engraved buttons — Entertain, Dining, Evening, All Off — each one setting a whole room or the entire house to a designed level. Fewer plates on the wall, more control in your hand.

It's also the foundation the rest of the house builds on. Lighting ties into your automation, theater, shades, and security, so a single button can set the whole home — and with tunable-white fixtures, the same system runs circadian rhythm lighting that follows the sun.

Why it's worth doing right

What a properly engineered system gets you

Fewer switches, better rooms

A six-gang plate becomes one keypad with engraved buttons. Cleaner walls, and controls a guest can read at a glance.

Scenes designed by room

Levels set per fixture group so a room reads well for cooking, dining, or a party — not one flat brightness for every purpose.

Circadian-ready

Add tunable-white fixtures and the same system shifts color temperature through the day, following natural daylight.

Lower energy use

Dimmed loads draw less, occupancy logic kills forgotten lights, and schedules keep exterior lighting from running all day.

Away-mode security

Occupancy simulation replays realistic lighting patterns while you travel, rather than the obvious timer-on-a-lamp look.

Always works at the wall

Every keypad is a physical button. The app is a convenience on top, never the only way to turn on a light.

How we work

From first walkthrough to a system you actually use

High-ticket work goes wrong when nobody explains what happens next. Here is exactly how a project runs, start to finish.

  1. 01

    Consultation

We walk the property with you, listen to how you actually live in it, and look at what's already there. No pitch — we're establishing scope, constraints, and what's realistic.

  2. 02

    Design & proposal

You get a designed system with a written proposal: what goes where, what it does, what it costs. Theaters include a 3D model so you see the finished room before anything is built.

  3. 03

    Installation

We coordinate with your builder, electrician, and designer, and we work clean. Cable is run properly, racks are built to be serviced, and the site is left tidy every day.

  4. 04

    Programming & calibration

Scenes are built around your routine and tuned on site, after dark where it matters. Video is calibrated, audio is measured. This is the step that separates a system from a pile of equipment.

  5. 05

    Training & support

We sit down with the household and make sure everyone can drive it — not just whoever ordered it. Then we stay reachable, with remote monitoring on supported systems.

Questions

Lighting Control, answered

Straight answers to what people actually ask before starting a project like this.

Can this be retrofitted without rewiring the whole house?

In most cases, yes. Wireless dimmers and keypads replace existing switches in the same box and talk back to a central processor, which means no new home-runs and no opening finished walls. Fully centralized panel-based dimming is the better system where we have wall access — typically new construction or a significant remodel.

Will my existing bulbs dim properly?

That depends entirely on the driver in the fixture. Cheap LED retrofit bulbs are the number one cause of flicker, buzzing, and a dead zone at the bottom of the dimming range. We check your fixtures against the dimmer before installation and tell you which lamps need swapping.

Can I still use a normal switch?

Yes. Every keypad is a physical button that works whether or not your phone, your WiFi, or your internet is functioning. The app is a convenience layer on top, never the only way to turn on a light.

Can lighting and shades work together?

Yes, and they should. When both run on the same system, one Evening button can dim the lights and lower the shades together, and the shades can respond to the same sunrise and sunset schedule as the lighting.

What does it take to add circadian rhythm lighting?

Tunable-white fixtures in the rooms where you want it, and a control system that can command color temperature as well as brightness. It doesn't have to be the whole house — most clients start with the kitchen, office, and primary suite.

What clients say

“I had the pleasure of working with Ashkan on multiple AV installations in the past 10+ years. His team performed a complete update of the media room which includes a multi-screen projection home theater, music server, whole house audio, dedicated 2Ch HiFi system, as well as Crestron automation for AV, lighting & shades. The most recent project is a second HT AV system for the family room/kitchen remodel. It's a complex installation & we're very happy with the job. Ashkan is always professional, responsive & reliable with excellent after sales/installation supports. Highly recommended.”
