Do motorized shades need power at every window?
Not necessarily. Battery-powered shades run for a year or more per charge and install with no electrical work at all — ideal for retrofit. Hardwired shades are the right call in new construction or where a window is genuinely hard to reach.
How loud are motorized shades?
Quality motors are quiet enough that a shade moving in the next room won't interrupt a conversation. Cheaper motors are noticeably not. It's one of the clearest places where the price difference is something you actually perceive every day.
Can you motorize my existing blinds?
Occasionally, but usually not well. Most existing blinds weren't built to take a motor, and a retrofit kit rarely matches the quiet, even movement of a shade designed as a motorized system. In most cases a new motorized shade is the better result.
Which fabric should I choose?
It depends on the room. Living spaces usually want a screen fabric that cuts glare and heat while keeping the view. Bedrooms and theaters want blackout. Many clients choose dual shades — screen and blackout on one window — for rooms that need both.
